TrueRanker is an SEO and AI-visibility suite: daily Google keyword rankings, local results, backlinks, site audits, competitor research, and how ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, and DeepSeek cite your brand.
This plugin is the WordPress interface to that suite. It is free and GPL-licensed. Rankings and reports live in your TrueRanker account at trueranker.com. Connect with an API key (or start from scratch in the plugin) and work from the WordPress admin. TrueRanker offers a 14-day trial with no credit card.
We ship regular plugin updates so more of the suite lands in WordPress over time. This 3.0.0 release is a full rewrite of the v2 plugin.
In this plugin (3.0.0)
- Onboarding. Connect with your TrueRanker API key, or enter your email and TrueRanker sends the key to that address. If several projects match this site, pick one. If none match, create a project for the site domain.
- Dashboard. KPIs and charts for Rank Tracker (average position, organic visibility, keyword count), AI Visibility (score, mentions, citations), and backlinks (referring domains, tracked links, domain rank). If SEO audits are enabled on the account, a score summary is shown too. Managing AI prompts, exploring backlinks, or running audits opens your TrueRanker account (signed in), not a separate WordPress screen.
- Rank Tracker. Date range, summaries (average position, keyword distribution, AI Overviews), a sortable table (position, change, volume, CPC, Search Console metrics, Local Pack, URL, and more), keyword history and SERP snapshot, and add keywords by location and device (desktop, mobile, or both).
- Settings. Active project and log out.
- Language. English or Spanish, following the WordPress site language. Other locales fall back to English.

These tools are part of the TrueRanker suite today. They are available in your account at trueranker.com; they are not WordPress admin screens in 3.0.0:

External service
After you connect, the plugin talks only to https://app.trueranker.com. Nothing is sent until you enter an API key or ask TrueRanker to email one.
Requires PHP 8.0 or higher and WordPress 6.6 or higher.

Installation
- Upload the plugin files to
/wp-content/plugins/seo-local-rank/or install via the WordPress Plugins screen. - Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen.
- Open TrueRanker in the admin menu. Enter your API key, or start from scratch with your email. You can also connect later from TrueRanker Settings.

Where do I get my API key?

Log in to your TrueRanker account, open Settings, and copy your API key. You can also start from scratch in the plugin: enter your email and TrueRanker will send the API key to that address.

Do I need a TrueRanker account?

Yes. The plugin is free (GPLv2 or later). Rank tracking and the rest of the suite run on TrueRanker’s service. Plans and the 14-day trial are on trueranker.com.

What data is sent to TrueRanker?

Nothing until you connect.
When you start from scratch, the plugin sends the email address you type and a language code (
enores) from your WordPress locale. The API key is emailed to you and is not returned in the plugin response.After you connect, the plugin stores the API key on the server only (it is never exposed to the admin JavaScript). Authenticated requests send a session token plus what you do in the UI: this site’s URL, project IDs, date ranges, and keywords with locations and device. All of that goes to

Will my settings be preserved when upgrading from v2?

Yes. The plugin migrates your API key and selected domain from the previous version automatically.

What if my site runs an older WordPress or PHP?

3.0.0 requires WordPress 6.6+ and PHP 8.0+. WordPress will not offer this update on sites below those versions. Stay on 2.3.0 until you can upgrade the stack.

The v2 plugin had a Dutch translation. Is it still included?

No. 3.0.0 ships English (source) and Spanish (
es_ES, also used for otheres_*locales). Other languages show English until a translation is added.
